From 21 stone to 14, one morning at a time.
I'm a dad in my 50s. In 2022 I weighed 21 stone. Today I'm 14. This is how it happened, warts and all.
The photos
Summer 2022. We'd been on holiday, and when the photos came back I didn't recognise the man in them. Tired, heavy, no energy, not moving. For the first time, it made me properly miserable.
Sugar went first
I didn't start with a gym or a diet plan. I started by cutting out sugar. Then I began cooking from scratch, with more vegetables and more protein, and tracking what I ate so I knew where I stood.
The 5am alarm
I trained first thing, at 5am. A short incline walk or a weights session, six days a week. Thirty minutes, done before the house woke up.
The hard part
It wasn't the food or the training. It was rebuilding the whole day around being healthier, at home as well as for me. Once that shifted, the rest got easier.
What changed
Seven stone is the headline, but it's not the best bit. The best bit is the energy, and being happier in my own skin.
